iPod Loading podcasts from iTunes on ipod shuffle

There has GOT to be a better way than either going through every single podcast and loading it individually, or copying and pasting ALL of them into my shuffle and deleting the played ones.

iTunes does not auto-fill from smart playlists to the shuffle, and does not show the play count until it's on the shuffle.

Will someone please help me with a better way to load all of my un-played podcasts onto my shuffle without this insanity?
