Optimize My MacBook Pro's Performance?
Hey so I just got a MacBook in September and I want to keep it fast, clean, and working smooth for the years to come.
1) I want to do all the things possible regularly (maybe once every 2 or 3 weeks, maybe more often) that will help optimize the performance, speed, and everything else on my MBP and keep it clean and working smooth... If I download Onyx, I don't know what "processes" to do and something might happen or get deleted if I check off something for Onyx to do. So could you tell me specifically what to do to just make my MBP faster, cleaner and all that like I said before.
2) Any other programs (free please) (or Utilities pre-installed on my MBP) that I can use to speed up, clean, and make my MBP faster? And what exactly do I do once I download the program (what to check off, etc.) to speed up, clean, and make my MBP faster?
Thanks! And I'm hoping to get very helpful answers

Honestly with a mac you wont have to worry about any of this.
If you want you can run onyx to clean out temp files and such. Other then that make sure you have plenty of ram.
Mac Pro (2010): 3.33Ghz Intel Xeon (6 core) - 24 GB RAM - NVidia Quadro k5000
Macbook Air (2010): 2.13 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo - 4GB RAM

Quite frankly, OSX doesn't suffer the same rot and decay like Windows does. It works just as well after 4 years as it did on day 1. Windows on the other hand, suffer a mysterious decay whereby it gets slower and more unresponsive after each passing year, and you NEED 3rd party software and utilities to keep it cleaned up and running correctly.

I say get more RAM and a faster hard drive or a SSD.
| 13" Retina Macbook Pro 2.5GHz i5 | 8GB RAM | 128GB Flash |
| Mac Mini 2GHz | NVIDIA 9400M | 8GB RAM | SOLD |
Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus
Once you go Mac, you will never go back.
