Have a few problems with one of my internal ATA drives that holds several digital pictures. The drive is no longer recognised on the desktop but the disk utility software does recognise it but when I try to fix/repair it the beachball comes up and doesn't go away. Tried Norton as well but the same problem.

Any ideas how I can get into the drive to copy the pictures? Ironically this problem happened on the same day I was running my first backup.

i too have a hard drive that has problems...this one wont spin up. some people on macrumors told me to put the drive in the freezer and after really really cold reinstall it and remove data asap (assuming it works).

it sounds strange but the drive is now in the chriochamber sealed in a ziplock freezer bag. hope this helps...judging by the date im probably too late to be of any help to you but it was worth a shot.
