Halting iPod Classic auto unmount?

I am trying to sync notes, but after a very (very) brief check of the iPod's content, iTunes always ejects the iPod right away. I am trying to sync some notes to it, and either the disc becomes unavailable or i just dont have enough time to move the files. Any way I can delay this?
