My iMac 27" C2D makes a growling noise!

Seems like the hard drive is growling like it is hungry. Is that normal?

all the time? or just at startup?

On and off. Other than that the computer is fine.

Yes, it sounds like a stomach grumbling. Those are the Seagate 1TB drives. There is another big thread on this issue.
