Black is the new Blue: Windows Black Screen of Death Attributed to Malware

Microsoft says that a problem with its Windows operating system, dubbed the 'Black Screen of Death' is not due to its latest security update.

Some Windows users are confronted by a totally black screen after they log on to their system.

It was thought that a security update on 10 November had been the cause, although this has now been discounted.

Reports suggest the problem also affects Windows Vista and XP, which experts are putting down to malware.

Noobs! These developers have released a malware that runs on XP, Vista, and 7. Meanwhile, I can't get feck all to run on Tiger anymore. 😀
 
And it seems it relates to one piece of software affecting a tiny amount of machines.

Kind of like the Snow Leopard guest account bug but without the loss of all your personal files.

Glass houses, stones, etc.
 
At least you could do something with the blue screens. 😛

Yeah, I agree -- I was surprised that I had not heard of this, because apparently it was floating around happening for some time. I have two XP computers at home and use two at work and have not seen or heard of this problem.

LOL at the excuses, when Snow Leopard had the guest account bug, the Windows fanboys were shouting from the roof. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, it only affects a small amount of machines. Yeah right, dig that head deeper into the sand.

Oh don't be ridiculous. This isn't a crusade, they're both just operating systems. The comment was to illustrate that all operating systems have their issues and only a complete moron would expect them to be faultless in the first place. That's why you get updates for every OS.
 
no wonder i didn't see it, guess i need to install malware first.

does GSOD on mac needs a malware to activate? don't think so.😀
