changing finder icon

i'd be grateful if someone could tell me how to change the finder and trash can icons without using candybar or messing up the system. is that impossible?

this is a great icon site for both Mac and Win. as much as I can see, it also has wallpapers and mac os themes.. thanks for recommending it buddy..
