Cannot boot up
I have a beige G3 that I would like to get to run for use by my younger kids. Cannot boot up from OSX 10.3 install CD. Keep on getting gray screen with question mark and floppy icon. Tried restart while holding down C and also while holding down command option P and R through two and three tones.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can get this G3 to boot off the CD instead of looking for the floppy?

If you are the type of person who solves all their problems with a hammer, because it is the only tool in your toolbox. It would be wise of you to never get in an argument with a gunsmith.

You cannot boot from a CD in OSX the way you could in OS9. If you are attempting to install OSX, I don't believe the beige models are compatible with OSX.
I wish I knew specifics, but all I remember is my friend who owned one of the last of the beige boxes cursing Apple when 10.0 came out because, for some reason, it was not compatible with her machine.
Good luck, but I think you have to stick to OS 9.x
