I will be going to college in the near future and I would like to be able to play a few of the latest games, create songs in garage band, and start getting into some video editing. Can a maxed out powerbook handle all of this rather smoothly?

I'm still thrilled with my 15 inch PowerBook purchase from last year September. Unless you need the portability (probably, since you are going to college) I would get a G5.

UT2K4 is playable on my machine - I have a gig ram, 128 vram and the 5400 rpm hdd.

GB and iMovie run really well.

A maxed out 15'' or 17'' PowerBook will do everything decently.

However, a dual G5 will do everything better.

But you'll need a really long extension lead and a trolley to move it around 😉

If you want play latest games, Mac may not be the right answer for you. I prefer gaming on the PC for that reason(all the titles are released on this platform first) and Mac for work (so reliable)
