Hi, I recently purchased a WD My Book Studio 1TB to use as back-up drive, using Time Machine.

After my iMac (Intel 2007 - Leopard) wakes from "Sleep Mode", the WD My Book is always dismounted so, unable to perform the Back-up ??? I have to manually mount the drive before manually performing the back-up.

How can I keep my WD HardDrive mounted at all time, even after Sleep mode, so the Time Machine Editor automatic weekly back-up works ? Interface is FW800.

Thanks for helping.

Pierre

I'm having the same problem and I'm using a WD external hard drive too! I don't think the drive is bad because it was purchased less than a year ago (last March 2009)...anyone know what the problem could be?

Hummm. Funny enough, I used the 800 to 400 FireWire cord provided by WD with the HDD Kit and connected the Drive in my FireWire 400 imput. Bingo, the HDD mounts after sleep... better yet, I connected it back to the FW800 of my iMac and it's now working, staying mounted after sleep. Go figure.

Follow-up question. Is it normal behavior that Time Machine will not back-up while iMac in Sleep Mode? (would make sense since nothing to back-up as no activity).

Anyone???
