Which mouse is overall the best in general use?

This is a personal preference. The best way to find out what works for you is to try one out at a store somewhere.

I love my mx revolution, although it requires steermouse ($20) to function 100% to my liking.

I have the bluetooth version.

Having used the Logitech Revolution MX, I have to say my answer would
be none of the choices offered.

My new Apple Magic mouse is by far the nicest mouse I have ever used!
By far.

I have the Performance Mouse MX on my work computer, and the Magic Mouse on my home computer. The PMMX has great ergonomics, and a bit smoother action on a desktop, and I love the free-wheeling scroll wheel, BUT, once you actually get used to the Magic Mouse, the scrolling with momentum (only on SL) and customization available with gestures (with BetterTouchTool) beats the PMMX hands down. Once you get used to the ergonomics of the MM, it's fine too. You just have to get used to not resting your palm on the mouse, I grip it on the sides with my thumb, ring/pinky fingers.

Agreed. Ergonomics on MX are superior, but functionality of Magic Mouse are far superior. It's like the MX tried to do the scrolling of the Magic Mouse and failed epically, because it's nowhere near as natural nd fluid as what the Magic Mouse offers. Felt choppy and unnatural.

Plus the Magic Mouse's ergonomics were fine after awhile.

I quite like the magic mouse with the program which allows you to use added gestures. Works well for me, the shape and size of it is also fine for me, you might want to try it out first if you are considering it.
