USB 1.1 versus 2.0 ipod iphone

has anyone been able to sync their newer ipod or iphone on an 700mhz imac goose neck running tiger tiger with the 1.1 usb ports?
 
Should work. I imagine it would work much slower. My sister syncs her iPod touch on her PC with her 1.1 USB
