iPod iTunes isnt detecting iPod nano

Hi everyone
I have a bit of a problem with my girlfriend's nano. I'm not sure what generation it is, i think its before the video nano. I'm not sure tho. Well anyways, when i try connecting her iPod everything works, it shows up on the destop and such but doesnt show up on iTunes. I'm not sure what to do. Any advice?

I'd switch to the next USB port. Assuming you're using a Mac, I'd use disk utility and restore it. Lastly, you can always delete iTunes and reload it.
