Did a MacRumors site search for spyware with zero results, The question I have is, Do I need it, and which one? Is there a freebee out there that is worthy?

No spyware (yet) on Macs. So, for now, you've got all you need for it - i.e., nothing.

Of course, cookies, etc., still work as a form of spyware - but you mean the more insidious kind, right? If so, there isn't any.

I assume you don’t want to know if you need Spyware, because you obviously don’t. If you want to know about a program that protects you against Spyware, then Little Snitch comes to my mind, which checks the outgoing connections. But it’s not free AFAIK.

Good point. Here's the direct link to Little Snitch. Not free, but only $25 - and you can use it for three hours for free to see if you like it.

Thus far, as long as you stay away from peer-to-peer software, you appear to be safe.
