I'm turning 16 soon and I am looking into getting A 07' Chevy Tahoe. Is that a good car? I want a SUV and I love the way the Tahoe looks, inside and out. Gas is not a problem with me. I would love any other opinions. I want a pretty big SUV.

Big SUV's are a PITA to drive in my opinion. I've driven my mom's suburban on many occasions, and it just doesn't handle well, brake well, or handle curves well. Unless you have something to haul, I'd avoid it.

It is a good car as far as safe but let me ask why you need something so large, why is gas not an issue at 16, and do you realize how well (or not so well) they handle when you take a turn quickly or have a knee jerk reaction to a situation that your inexperienced young mind cannot handle?

I always am doing sports and need room to throw my crap in the back. I drive my mom's Lexus around a lot and i like how big it is, I believe it is bigger then a Tahoe actually. Gas is not an Issue cause I have a grandfather who will pay for my gas. What are your Suggestions for SUV?

They are really nice. Just make sure you practice parking alot! Im turning 16 in 9 months and i cnt get a car immediately, let alone a nice one 🙂

My suggestion is not to give a 16 year old an SUV, silver spoon in your mouth or not. Depending upon the Lexus model I doubt it is bigger than a tahoe. My suggestion is a ford explorer, blazer, or something in a similar class size. Unless you plan on keeping enough equipment in your car for many sports all year long you don't need a tahoe. You can easily cart around all that crap in a smaller SUV/crossover.
And just because you have someone's wallet supporting your ride doesn't mean you have to go balls to the wall. One would hope that one day you'd stand on your own and if that time comes then financing the gas for a tahoe may be difficult.

What happens when that money is cut off?
How much space does the sports gear take? More then 63.7 cu ft( which is the Chevy Equinox's cargo space).

Yaris? Yuck. Smart? Bigger yuck. Neither will carry is sports gear that well. Plus, the Smart car has transmission issues. My suggestion is depending on his budget is the new Equinox or a Volvo station wagon.

By focusing only on the truck, the Tahoe is from the same platform as the Silverado and Avalanche, so they have basically the same Powertrain, suspension and chassis, as well as most of the interior stuff.
Depending on what features/options the one you are buying has, it is a good truck. It is reliable and safe.
GM best vehicles are its trucks like the Tahoe.
Besides the gas its maintenance is regular.
Like with any vehicle if you are not careful while driving you can seriously injure/kill anyone and negatively change someone's life including yourslef and your occupants.
Please be careful and imagine all the damage that can be caused with any vehicle if you are not thinking in the consequences of the decisions made in some milliseconds while you are driving.
If you like video games and destroy other vehicles while playing that kind sh@t can happen in real life, I mean the damage to others and including your truck and all that is inside it.

So I'm about to turn 16 as well... my stepmother has a Suburban (extended tahoe) and while yes, it's big and yes, it's unwieldy, I have a ton of fun driving it. It has decent pick-up without tons of people in it and the feeling that you can splatter some moron in a Prius is just wonderful.

How much sports gear are you looking to carry. 5 people + gear? Or just yourself. If its the latter you can easily get it in even a small car...

Obviously the culture in America is different to how it is down here, but I'd never go for a newish car for a first one. Whether you think so or not, chances are you'll crash it.
Whether or not you're paying for it, it's more worthwhile to get yourself a relatively cheap car (or truck if you want... ) for your first vehicle to get some experience.

No,you're not the only one..But that's ok..Once these kids get old enough and mature enough to realize that a vehicle is a means of transportation,and not an extension of their d**k,they'll understand it better....
OP..Assuming you've never driven before,a Tahoe isn't a good first vehicle..Different handling,turning radius,parking etc...Not to mention the rollover factor going around a curve,offramp etc...Tahoe is overkill for your needs,IMO.
