Okay...I'll start it off this month.

Shot of the beach at Taft, Oregon today. This beach is at the junction of Siletz Bay and the Pacific which makes for an interesting and dynamic setting each time the tides change.

Nice start to a new month, pdxflint.

Here's my submission. I was a little torn about what to do with the snowflakes. They end up looking like I sprayed my sensor with dust, but there is so much it would take too long to get rid of them. Although, I see that the compressed web version hides them pretty well.

Buttermere at dawn...

That's gorgeous. Beautiful light and tonality.

This was another attempt at freezing snow with an off camera flash. I've been reading the strobist blog and I'm trying to move beyond using just available light when a flash might add something. It's fun to experiment.

Ballyedmonduff Wedge Tomb, Dublin Mountains:

4317843353_a7cb4bbea8_o.jpg

This is a wedge-shaped gallery grave – a type of communal burial place built in the second millenium B. C. The three compartments of the central chamber which housed the burials were surrounded by a horseshoe-shaped setting of stones and covered by a cairn. When excavated in 1945 the tomb produced Beaker pottery and flint implements.

Given there were heavy flurries at the time, I decided to ask my buds to stay real still and took three quick shots with + - and correct exposures and used Aperture and photomartix for this HDR treatment. Lighting conditions were not great and when I used the flash, the snow just reflected back into the lens. Sony DSC F717. ( like those stone tablets )

Faking 'serious'

My buddy Matt @ lunch today... gave me the serious look. He's just a rocker in disguise for the day...

well conditions may not have been the best, but you did a great job composing the shot and given the conditions, I'd say it's great.
