Good freeware games

I was wondering if anyone knows some good freeware games. It doesn't matter which genre, card games, stratgey games, whatever.

I haven't really found anything awesome. Some mediocre ones, nothing special, but one I have found: http://www.freeverse.com/bigbangchess/

Awesome OS integration, nice graphis, simple but really really nice.
I'd love to find some more.

Water Tower is pretty fun. You can find out more about it here:

http://www.createmacgames.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=169

You might try browsing the boards there for some places. Also idevgames.com forums are nice too.

Snood.

Deceptively simple, strangely addictive.

Snood and America's army are both really fun although snood is technically shreware... but oh well.
If we're including shareware, gish is really fun, and so is deimos rising, although that comes with the ibooks...
As for freeware, most of the minesweeper clones are free, although some are considerably better than others, and neverball is absolutely awesome...
ooh- and so is argonaut-2149, which is asteroids, but with enemies, and crystals you can use to buy stuff.

I suggest Scorched 3D (http://www.scorched3d.co.uk/), which is a game similar to Worms. It's totally free. You need OS X with X11, and remember to install it in the system volume. It's fun

Thats a great game I know the developer of both Chopper and Water Tower, I will mention to them that they were recommended, that should bring them a smile .

PS : There is a watertower 3D in the works, and the test build I have seen looks promising

Holy cow, an update to Scorched Earth!?

I used to play that game all the freaking time on my old 486. One of my favorite games of all time. I'll have to check this out.

And oh yes, don't forget the Mac classic Glider

scorched earth issues...

I feel silly asking this, but how do you get into the game of scorched earth 3d? I've downloaded it, installed it, and opened the scorched3d-launch package (it's all that was installed), and now I'm confused... the onle thing in the program is in the menu bar I can choose to relaunch scorched earth 3d...
help! it looks really cool, but how do I connect to servers and such?

Neverball is quite amazing for freeware, takes me back to Spindizzy on the C64. This is a brilliant 3D marble maze coin collecting game. 9/10

15MB for neverball but very worth it for dial up peeps, easy to customise/skin the graphics too.

Okay I played a couple of games and I must say Snood is one of the worst games ever... it kept me awake until 3:30 in the morning
Americas Army is really nice too, so is never ball.
Definitely some good suggestions. Thanks.

I had problems with it, when I first installed it. This was because I installed it not in the system volume, but in another volume.. The Scorched3D-launch application must be in the Applications folder, where your OS X is installed. If it is there, then you may not have X11: (http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/x11/download/).. If you also have this, then I don't know.. check the forum on the Scorched3D page. You may find your answer

Scorched Earth was the greatest game ever! Me and a friend played a game of 1000 rounds one night. Man was I tired when we were finished! He won.
