iPhone repair site iResQ has posted photos of what it claims are parts for the fourth-generation iPhone presumably due for launch later this year. Among the most notable features of the claimed parts are a front panel that appears to be approximately 1/4" taller than the current iPhone 3GS.

Also present on the new front panel part is a "reflective surface" located just above the earpiece slot on the iPhone. It is not immediately obvious what the feature might be, and iResQ offers no speculation on its function beyond suggesting that it is a likely location for a proximity sensor, although that would not explain the need for the mirrored surface to be visible on the front of the device..

Claimed leaks of future iPhone parts from Asian suppliers have been relatively common in the past, although such claims should generally be taken with a grain of salt, as evidenced by a claimed iPhone bezel leaked last May that actually turned out to be a part from the Creative Zii Egg.

Forward facing video camera? Please? Please Apple! Please!!!!!!! Just on WiFi, At&T. I promise. PLEASE!!!!!!!!

I usually don't call fake and ignore these things, but this looks way too cheap and just in general looks fake. Anyone else agree? I mean seriously, Apple won't make a longer iphone. It's big enough already.

I was thinking that that thing could possible be some sort of notification light similar to the sleeping indicator on MacBooks. Who knows?

I hope this is not true. The iPhone's size and fine and, from reading the site, it appears that the new iPhone's screen cannot be easily removed like the 3G & 3GS. This means if the screen is cracked it will take longer to replace it and is more expensive.

Yeah..I call BS, might be a part for one of the many Chineese knockoffs. Unless the display technolgy is changing (higher REZ), I don't know why they would need to make it taller. But that "reflective" slot is too small for a camera and not even the right shape.

So let's assume for a moment it is true. It appears the primary changes are simplified parts count and assembly. They seem to have combined several part functions into fewer application specific components.

It also appears at least a couple of new "hardware" features are being supported.

Makes sense.

too weird, reflective surface seems like it would be too cheap looking for an apple product, IMO,...
I call BS as well.

Yup a knockoff

I agree, this looks like a knockoff to fit a more commonly available size of LCD that what is used in the current third generation iPhone. As far as the reflective spot, would not be surprised if it is just a mounting mark for assembly.

There are already many iPhone-styled knockoffs out there and IMO this is just parts for one of them.

It's not a bigger iPhone...

It's a smaller iPad!

(Sorry, couldn't resist:D)
