Ive always had internet while i was on the phone and the att commercial even advertises it, so all of a sudden when im on the phone i cant use any internet apps or safari etc. Whats the deal?

Yes, I have 3g activated at all times pretty much. What'll happen is ill have 5 bars full 3g and ill call somebody or vice versa and the 3g icon disappears completely and i cant do anything but talk pretty much. Then when i hang up a circle appears for like 5 seconds then the 3g comes back up
I would guess there's a local problem with your 3G service, and when you make a call the phone is falling back to GPRS.

Yes, something is not right.
Make sure you have the latest carrier update file installed also.
Maybe do a hard reset also.

The latest carrier update is 5.6
