Cheers Folks

I really appreciate the voting folks as this is the first thing I've ever won except for that pub quiz back in 1995.

Thanks again and I'll be doing up a few more sets of these characters in the not too distant future. As I said before I'm a bit of a newbie to these particular forums but I'm going to put in a few more hours in here.
Would be rude otherwise.

Err, how do I use my avatar now? the contest rules were under 40,000 bytes but the regular user cp rules are under 20,000 bytes.

We will arrange to let you switch to your winning avatar. You'll get a PM when things are ready.

Thanks Q.
You know there are a lot of avatars that I missed when they were first posted. I especially like Sunbaked's goldfish bowl.

Congrats to everyone who entered - Judging was definitely not a 'this one, this one, and this one' thing, but actually took us quite a bit of time to narrow the field from so many quality submissions. Everyone's a winner

for our winners - I believe things are set now so that you can use your larger avatars - if not, please let me know directly.

Thanks, and again - congrats!

I'm happy that I made second place!! Oh yeah! I loved looking at all the icon's above - I saw a bunch of cool ones too. SunBaked's Avatars were awesome!! You know which one I mean

I might change my avatar to a smaller version of the one that made me a finalist - but some people say my current one is good. Plus the new one is almost 40k.

Thanks for voting - and like MudBug said "Everyone's a winner!"
(also I like your new avatar MudBug)

Thanks again!!

congrats everyone.
i like the gallery.
If there ever is another contest, you should have the gallery earlier, so we can lobby/vote for the nominee before mods pick them.

p.s.: why do some of the animations not work properly in the gallery?

p.p.s: there quite a few good ones that i forgot about!

There will be - and we'd like to come up with a way that would prevent us from having to go through and select finalists.....we'll see when that happens.

Which one doesn't work for you? Does it work for you when you look at it in the first post of the thread where that member submitted it for the contest?

If the same animation fails for everyone, there may be something wrong with the gallery. If it works for some and not others, it could be that some web browsers get overwhelmed by so many animations on one page.

Okay medea, what's being typed?

If it's a QWERTY machine:

... best I can make out is 'unbeayns' or 'imneauns'.

Maybe 'imne[^I]uns' (using [^I] for <TAB>)?

Care to shed some light?

Hahahahaha, nah it was pretty close, I still see some cool ones that should have won in my opinion. Better go before all those gifs load and make Safari explode!

I'm glad to see that most of the avatars in the display above are still intact. Since some were links to personal web sites, not all of the links stay valid. And we were too lazy to copy each and every image so we could post a separate permanent copy.

those are great!!!

for the fun of it, I'll post a few I've used on other forums (for avatars or signatures)... and at non mac forums mind you. somewhere in my signatures, titles, avatars, et. al., you will find reference to macintosh - gotta love my little nudges at people to "convert".

Wow, forgot there were so many entries....

I think we'll have to make this a annual event, so the next contest will have to be in several months...

If this would be an annual event that would be awesome.

When did this begin? August? I say we do another, yeah we might have to make a new theme but, it'll be a blast to see a bunch of new avatars in a another contest.

Maybe an intel theme

I'd love to see another contest - intel theme might be a bit challenging though as many entries will be very similar I imagine.

not my call of course, merely my $.02

EDIT: yeah, and what is being typed on Medea's typewriter avatar???
