i bought a emac of ebay last year (love the thing) anyways my keyboard died and it wont read it, if i bought a new keyboard would it read it, the usb seems to have no problems, my mouse etc still works can i just plus it and it work? also is there any way to clean the dern thing out?

Any keyboard with a USB plug will work just fine for you 
You could try to disassemble the keyboard with a butter knife and then clean it with cotton buds or whatever
