Hello,

We have a PowerMac G5 machine which won't boot at all. you can hear it turn on and everything (including the chime at bootup) but you won't see anything show up on the display. Also after several minutes, you will hear a very loud noise come from the machine, the fan you can tell is extremely loud. Not knowing this stuff very well as i'm more a PC tech than Mac, what are some options to troubleshot?

Try PRAM and PMU reset first.
If it will not help, replace graphics card. I had exactly the same issue and that was solution (in my case it was dead 6600LE).

What kind of PM G5 is it?

That's the exact same thing my Dual 2.7 did after it sprung a leak. Check for coolant damage. If it's there call Apple, even if it's out of warranty, they'll probably offer to fix it, or replace it.
