I just got a macbook from somebody and it's great. it's my first mac and i'm learning. i've got a question for you pros however; my airport express 802.11g i believe it is. seems to only get a connection when close to the base. is there any update i'm missing or something? any ideas would help.
thanks

What Mac OS X version is on it, what does System Update show and what wireless router do you have?

And what materials are your walls made of?

Mac OS X is 10.5.4 not sure where to find system update but software update shows an airport utility software update that i'm downloading now. the wireless router is a belkin wireless n router

after downloading the update i should, in theory, be able to purchase the 802.11n enabler and everything will be fine right?

Leopard (10.5) includes the 802.11n enabler and you do not need to purchase it. You should probably upgrade to Snow Leopard (10.6) for $29.

I also have a late 2006 MacBook, and I’ve always gotten very good Wi-Fi reception. Is your router in a bad location?
