20" Imac displays & 20" display

Well, if they are, Apple can add all of the stuff in the iMac for $600. That would make a kickass headless, if they put all of that in a case.
 
no they are not the pro displays have better brightness and contrast ratio, they are both kick ass displays but the studio displays are just more kick ass.

Not by much though. Both displays have 170 degree vertical and horizontal viewing angles, and both feature a resolution of 1680x1050. Brightness on the iMac is 230cd/m versus 250cd/m on the 20" cinema display. The contrast ratio on the iMac is 350:1 versus 400:1 on the cinema display.

I wonder if the response time is the same? It is 16ms for the cinema display, but I can't find it listed anywhere for the iMac.

Also, does anyone know the details of the screens used in the 15" powerbooks? I've always wondered about the viewing angle, brightness, contrast, etc., but have never found it on Apple's site.

that would seem to be the case. 350 contrast ratio and 230 nits brightness were the specs on the previous generation 20" cinema.

It also uses the old 17" display with some very disappointing viewing angles for a new iMac. Viewing angles are only 120° horizontal and 90° vertical. Brightness is 200cd/m and the contrast ratio is 350:1.

So the 20" imac G5 has a better display (not just larger) than the 17" imac G5?

I'd have to say yes. If I were getting a new iMac, I would have a really hard time getting anything less than the 20" model because of the screen alone. Personally, I'd rather have the 17", but the viewing angles are unacceptable when compared to the 20".

yes. Because the old generation 20" was introduced after the old generation 17" and 23", it had better specs, and those same specs carry over to the new imacs.
