How do I hook my uMBP up to my tv?

nope you need a mini display port adaptor to VGA, DVI, OR HDMI to connect to a tv. If you have a newer tv then get the mini displayport to HDMI.
 
i suggest going to either amazon or monoprice.com to find the cables you need. They make mini displayport to hdmi cables. You will also need a mini-toslink to optical spdif cable to connect the audio to your tv or reciever. If you don't want digital output for sound you could also just use a headphone to rca adapter
