is this normal?
it only sounds like the machinery inside getting into gear, and it doesn't sound like anything's broken, but i wanted to make sure nonetheless instead of whining about it to apple and have them look at me like i'm crazy.

yeah for some reason the optical drives apple chooses to use seem to be louder than any others iv experienced.

I nearly choked on my beer when I read the thread title. I was expecting the Mac start up chime to be the culprit. 😀
