basic dreamweaver question

I want to change the size of a cell within a table except it doesn't let me or only allows it the lines to be moved a certain distance.

Is it something to do with 'Column spans?'

Thanks for any help...
 
Okay. Go into layout mode. Its the button labled layout under the layout/tables section of the button bar. Now each cell can be independently resised.
 
but that will resize the entire column. if you want to keep some cell widths in the column and expand another cell you have to create another column next to it and merge a few cells so that it spans into the other column and appears to be a wider cell.
