i have seen some articles regarding i pod touch that it can be used to make voip calls using nimbuzz/skypy/fring.I got confused about this article

is it really possible to make voip calls using ipod touch ?

i want to make voip calls in ipod touch via nimbuzz/fring/skype,is it possible ?

if yes,can i use a "bluetooth stereo headset" for call functions (headphone and mic) which connects ipod touch using bluetooth technology ?

i like to use "bluetooth stereo headsets" of sony/motorocker for making a call (instead of "apple earphones with mic", which gets along with the ipod touch) ?

http://www.sony.co.nz/product/dr-bt21g

http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/U...phones/MOTOROKR-S9-HD-Stereo-Headphones-US-EN

if possible is it compatible with all the iopd touch generations or only the latest one ?

As long as you have wifi connectivity you can use Skype, Fring etc but not with a bluetooth headset. You need headphones with built in mic or with Skype you can use a button\bean mic as it allows you to enable the speaker when you place a call.

I don't think you can attach a microphone with the first gen iPod touch. Just the second and third.

I believe there are no bluetooth functions on the iPod Touch first generation. You'll either have to deal with the stock head phones with Remote/Mic, or buy a new iPod Touch. Be happy with what you can do, instead of wishing what you could do.

I have been using Skype with the earbuds that have a builtin mic for a year now on my touch and it has been great. I just got Clear with the Clear Spot mobile 4G router so I can use my iPod as an iPhone everywhere I go but having to use earbuds is getting annoying.

Can anyone recommend a tiny mic, something low profile that has pretty decent quality?

I assume mono bluetooth headsets for cell phones will still work for the audio out, correct?

just look at amazon. there is one that works with good reviews that is less than $5 shipped. thumbtacks cost around 15 but they all work.

You can't. You can only use Bluetooth to stream audio TO something; there's no support for Bluetooth audio input on the iPod.

What generation is your Touch?

Will the audio out still work on the BT headsets? I'd like to use a button mic plugged into the aux jack with the audio in my ear from the headset. Or is it still restricted to A2DP stereo headphones and not mono headsets?

I'm not sure if it can split the audio signal like that, but I do know that the iPT is limited to A2DP only. I've never even gotten my Touch to pair with a mono headset (without jailbreaking, that is).

I found one that supports A2DP, the Jabra BT8040. I am going to order that and use it with a bean mic, hopefully that will work. I am now officially cell phone free. My 4G WiMax "iPhony" has been working great.

Cool! I can't wait to hear if it works that way—if so, that's a pretty sweet setup!
