What do you want in the new Macbook Pros?

I'd like a better screen resolution with a faster processor and a larger hard drive with more ram. I need this so I can run firefox, itunes and photoshop at the same time.

Yeah but i read that the faster processors are faster

Im sure this has been done a hundred times but whatever, here is my wish list

High end 13"MBP (you are aiming to high for a low-end 13 btw)

Screen: Current is fine any upgrade is extra
CPU: 2.53 i5 processor 540m turbo boost to 3.06
Ram: 4gb DDR3
HDD/SSD: 250 GB HDD @ 5400 RPM is fine (hopefully they will make ssd a standard in the high end, but most likely not)
Graphics: any dedicated from either nVidia or Ati paired with an IGP and some sort of auto switching capability.

Ps. Optimus is nVidia tech so it wouldnt work with an ati card

A touchscreen. But apparently, that'll "never happen".

Screen: 1600 x 900 w/ upgrade to 1920 x 1080
CPU: i5 w/ upgrade to i7
RAM: 4 GB / 8 GB
SSD: 128 GB to 512 GB
Graphics: 512 MB ATI/NVidia, upgrade to 1 GB.
Connectivity: 802.11n WLAN, 3G, GPS
Optical: None/Blu-Ray R/W
Peripherals: USB 3.0, Expresscard

Basically what the Vaio Z has to offer.

Why do you assume that, that poster, only does "simple" graphics work and a c2d is enough? Maybe there's more that the poster does and would benefit with an faster CPU?

But to your original topic, any update is better then nothing right now. There's no real benefits right now for an basic user though..

and yeah, i agree with the person who said that anything will do. all i want right now is a new model, i honestly don't care what gets changed as long as i am (at least slightly) confident that they won't release a fully redesigned one in a month.

NVIDIA discrete graphics (none of that Arrandale crap)
USB 3.0
SATA 6gbps support

That's it. The rest, they can keep the same.

Out of interest, what is it that you need to do that you need those stats you posted as a "minimum"? You know, those tasks you'll be doing that a 7200RPM HDD just won't cut it for?

Well nonetheless, why the 16:9, not a 16:10. I'd hate to lose a few thousand pixels of usable space.

CPU: i5/ i7
RAM: 4 GB / 8 GB
SSD: 256 GB to 512 GB or 640 GB STA 7200
Graphics: NVidia Optimus
Connectivity: 3G (but it won't happen)
Optical: Blue Ray (but it won't happen)
Peripherals: more than 2 USB 3.0

What I want in this order:

1) Nvidia Optimus or a decent AMD card (5830 please!)
2) IPS Screen hopefully with a 16:9 ratio.
3) Core i5 processor or if they can manage it a BTO quad i7!

What are yours? Put them in the same form as mine. Copy+Paste this and type in your "dream" minimum specs for the low-end 13"

The screen res has been low for years...they probably won't change it now. And i can never see them offering SSD standard.

Until OSX gains true resolution independence I wouldn't even want higher resolution screens than we already have. My guess is were going to be waiting till at least 10.7 at the earliest.

for minimum specs on a 13" which i may or may not go for depending on how much i am willing to spend

Screen: whatever it is it will be higher then my current 1024x768, IPS would be great though
CPU: i7-620LM, get that low voltage going
RAM: 4 GB
HDD: would it expect to start atleast at 250GB
Graphics: intel GMA HD with switchable to ATI 5430/ nvidia 310(maybe fermi at this rate of waiting)

i am looking more at the 15" though but not entirely decided, and entry level hopes and expectations would be

Screen: 1920x1080
CPU: i5-520M up to i7-620M
RAM: 4GB up to 8GB
HDD: start at 500GB up to 750GB and up to 512GB SSD
Graphics: intel GMA HD switchable to ATI 5650/Nvidia 330 (or comparable fermi at this rate)

and at this point, i really get this feeling blu-ray may just be apart of this, thinking june, mac pro, macbook pro, supposed lower licensing rates, all coming together at the same time, hard to ignore
