Power cable set itself on fire. AppleCare?

So just today i was using my MacBook, then I put it down, and noticed smoke coming from the ground. The end part of my power cable was slightly on fire. I quickly took it out my laptop and from the wall.
So now the cable's burnt itself, is it covered by AppleCare? I am still in warranty from when i bought the laptop.

Thanks

Yeah, they'll almost certainly replace a burnt power adapter. Give them a call or take it into a store.

If the part is defective, it's covered. If the damage was due to wear and tear or accident, it's not.

The plastic has been slightly ripping on the outer cover (by the plastic part that goes into the laptop), but its just been with normal use.

Just to finish off the thread. I called Apple, they just said that they would give me another one. Either from an Apple Store or the other Authorised Resellers. Pretty simple replacement really.
