Can I use my MBP as second monitor on my iMac?

I have a 27" iMac and a MBP (late 2008) - both running SL 10.6.3.

Is it at all possible to use my MBP as a second monitor on my iMac?
If so, how...? Did anyone try it out?

The video port on the MBP is input only. You would need something like the elgato eyeTV, which is not cheap.
