Pages Landscape mode in ipad

It seems you lose the tool bar in landscape mode on the ipad. Could someone confirm this, and is there a way to make the toolbar visible in landscape mode?

Yes, you lose it. It's considered a feature of the app. As far as I know there is no way to force it to appear in landscape.

You are correct. I know of no workaround.

I honestly found it very annoying. That's my only complaint on pages. I need to be able to see the toolbar while in landscape, and not have to keep turning the device to make a simple change.

If this is billed as a "feature," then it is the dumbest non-user turn-off-able feature that Apple has ever implemented.

It's beyond annoying. If I am typing in landscape, I need to flip it horizontal to get to the toolbar.

I hope this gets fixed ASAP.

Red face

The way I "fixed" this issue is to type everything in landscape and then edit the format and everything else in portrait mode.

I can think of a few others.
If Steve doesn't think you need the option, you don't get the option.

That's just dumb, please tell me it's a bug, not a feature

This is incredibly dumb. What sort of Apple "philosophy" is at work here? Please tell me this is a bug and not a "feature." Apple software is full of stuff like this. Of course, Apple will never acknowledge the issue if it is a bug, until they decide to get around to fix it.

To add insult to injury, Apple's own case doesn't allow you to stand the iPad up in portrait orientation safely. (Too precarious, not the right angle).

I imagine this is apples attempt to urge you into using their keyboard with the dock. Working on a document in portrait mode is actually useful.. Shame the onscreen keyboard is a bit annoying to use.

Definitely need to make the bar appear in either mode.
