This may seem simple but for a new Mac/iTunes user like me I need some assistance. What are the little check boxes in iTunes for? What is the difference as to if they are checked or not? I can still click on the song and it will play, so what are they for?

When syncing devices, you can choose to only sync checked items:

3G4G

If you deselect certain songs, then those songs will not sync to your iPod then next time you sync.

Its for users who have small sized iPods and large music collections.

Fixed that for you. 🙂

In addition to what's been mentioned, unchecked songs won't be played in shuffle mode, which is very useful indeed. 🙂

Ah cool, I didn't know that!

I don't use the check-box system so none of this stuff makes any difference to me, but I'm sure there is plenty of people who use it.

micab, thanks and I didn't even know about those but it is the check boxes next to the songs that stridemat is talking about. Thanks stridemat, that is what I needed to know.

Now if I could only edit the name of this thread!!
