I have a Rev A. Dual 2.0 G5 and I'm looking to get some extra ram. Does anyone know if the ram that comes in the machine is Samsung? If it is, then I guess there would be nothing wrong with getting two extra sticks of 512MB of Samsung ram.

If someone can give me some feedback here, that would be great.

Thanks.

I'm planning to get the SAMSUNG 512MB PC3200 DDR400 184PIN OEM
512MB Module, PC3200, DDR400, 184-pin, OEM Packaging and it goes for $85.59USD at www.ncix.com.

Do those specs look okay for the rev A G5 2.0?

I would buy from crucial but I live in Canada and I believe that they charge extra to ship it over here. Ncix is Canadian and I was having a hard time finding a canadian place to purchase my ram.

Samsung RAM should be fine, as long as it's good quality DDR 400MHz. Most of the RAM out there is just repackaged Samsung anyway.

I always use Samsung memory, since it's the same brand Apple uses. No compatibility problems 🙂

Yeah, if you want 1GB of RAM, buy 2 x 512MB sticks of RAM. Don't buy a 1GB stick and leave the other one empty. I read that filling both RAM slots is better for the iMac, so I'm just going to take a guess and assume that this is also true of the G5 PM.

I have the Samsung 1gb module from OWC for my PB 12" rev. B, and no problems. OWC service was great, and knowledgeable.

Just make sure you buy it in pairs and that it's non-parity

How would I know if it's non-parity? The only information about the ram is this "SAMSUNG 512MB PC3200 DDR400 184PIN OEM
512MB Module, PC3200, DDR400, 184-pin, OEM Packaging".

Do you think it's safe to buy two of these?

Thanks for all your replies.
