Can a 3rd gen ipod formatted for windows be reformatted for mac. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am new.

...although a reformat is not necessary. I have a 3G iPod that I used with a PC running XP. I then saw the light and bought a Mac - and a Mac can work with either a "Mac" or "Windows" formatted iPod.
O.K. I bought I display model, that came formatted for windows and I want to use it with my mac. I have no CD or anything like that, how do I go about it?
