I went to Apple store yesterday. I want a new MBA badly. Only problem is the memory of current model is 2G only not expandable. The guy in the shop has no idea when new MBA will be released.
I was looking at new 13" or 15" Macbook Pro, I like it, and wonder since I don't use DVD that much, is it possible to take the drive out and reduce weight a lot? Andyone knows?

Time to start working out if you are that concerned about the weight:

MBA 1.36 kg (3#)
MBP 13" 2.0 kg (4.5#)
MBP 15" 2.54 kg (5.6#)

Why the concern on the weight? Curious is all.
I would take the SD out for an optibay before I'd leave that area empty. Unless you plan to stash weed in it, then ok.

Gonna try :D

Well, decided, 15" is only 0.5lb heavier than my old macbook.

Since, I had my 2011 13" Macbook Pro Superdrive / Optical drive laying around why not... Here it is weighing in at a measly 127 grams. It's really light. It's not even worth removing to be honest with you. I did because I went the SSD / 750GB WD Black Scorpio route. Hope I was of some help :D
