A friend have a ibook G4 12'' to sell for 1100 USD.
Its a 1Ghz 512 Ram Combo 12'' with the extreme air card installed.
It comes with a logitech wireless mouse and it is still over 7 months of warranty. The condition of the ibook is very good, so should I go for it at this price ?????
Thanks

If you qualify for an education discount, you can buy this new for $1,110 (except the wireless mouse).

Apple Education Store

Without the edu discount, it's $1,278

Of course, you can save a little on memory by buying third party from Crucial

You'd save a few bucks over getting a brand new one, but if you're in the market for a new laptop immediately (before the Cram & Jam deals ends on Saturday) and you have a little bit more money to start with, you could do what I did:

12" iBook (ed. discount): $999
Airport Extreme Card (ed. discount): $69
20 GB iPod (ed. discount): $269
Sales Tax (at 6%): $80.22
256 MB RAM from Crucial.com (free shipping): $52.99

total cost: $1470.21

- $250 private sale of iPod (sold in just a couple hours on craigslist.com)
- $200 mail-in rebate for Cram & Jam (took about 4 weeks to receive)
_____________________________________________
new total cost: $1021.21

With the money you have left over, you could go out and get your fancy wireless mouse... AND you'd have a brand spanking new iBook with the full year's warrenty. Just a bit more work on your part.

Also you can get a refurb 1GHz G4 iBook for $949 from Apple. So:

$949 iBook
$ 79 Airport Extreme from Apple
$ 53 256MB module from Crucial
====
$1081 Total

That leaves you with $19 for a mouse. His deal isn't great, get him down to $1000 or so and then it looks better.

Sorry -- regarding my post a few minutes ago, I was working under the assumption that your were eligible for the educational discount program, which you may very well not be! Silly me.

As everyone said, he's not ripping you off, but he's also not giving you a great deal.

Basically, you could get a practically new one from Apple Refurb for almost the same price.

I would have to get him to go down to $999 before I would buy it, but that is just me, he's not ripping you off, but he's not doing you any favors either.
