What to do when it finally arrives....

Whenever my new MBP arrives, what do i need to do to:

Calibrate the battery?

restore from my external HD?

Do i let the battery just run down until it runs out? For the hard drive, do i need to press anything at start up?

Calibrating battery

Do you have a Time Machine backup or just files in the external? At some point during the first boor, it'll ask if you want to transfer files and click yes and select from TM backup if you have one. If not, just set up everything then plug in the HD and transfer them

I always do. Did that yesterday when my i7 15'' arrived. I like to keep things as clean as possible and that includes removing all the language translations, garage band, iweb, etc. Then, I reinstall only the parts I want. Saves 5-6gig.
 
Interesting fact: while calibrating my battery I was playing Tales of Monkey Island full screen. This killed my battery in about 90 minutes, but that's beside the point. When I turned it back on the next morning, it restored the state from harddisk and went right back into the game as if nothing had happened!
