Can you sync app data between iPhone and iPad?

I'm still waiting for my iPad to arrive, but I have a question though. Lets say I like to play GTA on my iPhone and I'm halfway through it. Not when I get my iPad I want to play it on that as well. Will I have to start all over, or is it possible to sync the app data somehow? I really hope this is possible but Apple has always been retarded when it comes to syncing app data so I doubt you can do this. Please tell me I'm wrong...

You can restore your iPad from a backup of the iPhone, and this will COPY your save data to your new device, but unfortunately there is no way to keep both devices in sync after this point.

Huge oversight in my opinion.

mobileme can sync your calendar, bookmark, contacts, and email if you roll that way, though obviously no app to app syncing as you described.

the closest we have now are apps like the kindle app which track where you are in all your books, regardless of device.

the cloud = better in many ways!

damn that is what I expected to hear. I think this is pretty terrible considering they are running the same apps, and it's obvious that a lot of people are going to have the same apps on both their iPhones and their iPad. People should be rewarded for have both of Apples gadgets. I hope it'll come but for some reason I don't see it coming anytime soon

I agree it was a big oversight. There are a couple apps that I really need to sync with each other. One is my SplashID app and the other is my business invoicing app. I can do it manually, but that's so 1990's.

This would probably fall more with the app developer to make a "cloud" type of thing. For example the game, We Rule, uses a server to keep track of your buildings, money, exp, and trades. You can use it on the iphone or iPad and both are automatically updated when launched.

^ which is smart, but I don't see why Apple couldn't make the iDevices sync between each other and thereby not having to rely on developers to embed this feature into their apps.
