hard drive on second ATA chain

i'm trying to install 3 120gig HD on a Sawtooth. i've gotten it to recognize 2 of them on the original ATA chain, there's a second chain, on which the DVD ROM is being recognized, but the hard drive i installed under the DVD drive (in a slot that is obviously designed to house a HD), won't show up in the system profile, despite my attempts to use jumpers to designate it as master or slave. Does anyone have the solution?

Solution:

If you set the DVD-ROM and the HD to cable select, then it will work. Hope this will help some one else.
