4G iPod Has Incorrect Available Storage?

My iTunes says I have 9.35GB of storage left; yet the iPod itself says I have 11.4? What gives?

you probably use it as harddrive and put some other things in your iPod (divx, backup etc)
 
First of all I know for sure you have a 20GB iPod wanna know why? Well first of all you were reading how much space was used on the iPod thats what the 9.35GB is. Because it should use about .25GB for some other things (file system, files needed for the iPod to work and that). So 11.4+9.35+.25=20GB

well this solves all the mist..

but.. isnt .25 gb a bit BIG for file system and etc?! 😕

That doesn't make any sense. First, 11.4 + 9.35 + 0.25 = 21GB. Second, the formatted capacity of a 20GB Pod is something like 18.5GB. As such, it's clearly not a case of confusing available space with used space.

I had a similar issue with my iPod a while back so reset it as a matter of course and that solved the problem. Mach D: give that a bash (if you haven't already) and see how you get on. Do bear in mind that resetting your Pod will wipe all of your music and data.

You know wrong. My iPod is the 40GB 4G.

My capacity is 37.1, my available is 11.4. But when I connect it to my PC and view it in iTunes, my available is 9.35. What gives?
 
sorry, it was a guess... hmm... how about things that are awaiting transfer? is that possible (to do that that is)?

it's all synced. i just removed songs to see if that would do anything and it didn't.
