I was totally for it until at the end where he threw in the anti democrat jab.

A gimmick but still worth a try...

while the Democrate jib was a little uncalled for but still has some truth in it since as it has been pointed out is at this time the spending in and defecate spending is making Bushes years look like chump changed.

he right spending needs to be reduced and they need to started working on slowly pulling back on it. Instead I have seen this out of Wa****on.

"We need to cut spending..."

What they pass are more Spending bills. Their action (from both sides) have been showing that they lairs. They scream about spending but pass bill after bill that increases spending and does not have any way to pay for it.

As for the choices in youcut they are pretty have GOP favored ones. Best one of the choices was the cutting of the union substation.

Seems gimmicky, and of course the only people that are going to participate are the GOP loyalists anyway (I would never have heard about this if it wasn't for here).

They really seem to love setting up their own echo chambers.

Worth a try? It's nothing but a publicity stunt!

You go to http://republicanwhip.house.gov/YouCut/ and there's the following items to choose to cut...

Presidential Election Fund ($260 million in savings)
What are the chances this program would be here if a Democrat wasn't occupying the White House?
Taxpayer Subsidized Union Activities ($600 million in savings)
Socialist unions destroying America
HUD Program for Doctoral Dissertations ($1 million in savings)
1 million in savings? We are facing a fiscal crisis and you want to focus on 1 million?
New Non-Reformed Welfare Program ($2.5 billion in savings)
Gotta go after those Cadillac-driving welfare abusers
Eliminate Wealthier Communities from CDBG ($2.6 billion in savings)
This one they probably threw in just to make it look like they weren't only going after the working class.

So you get to pick one of these programs to cut, each week there will be one "winner" and the GOP will vote on whether they approve this cut.

P-U-B-L-I-C-I-T-Y S-T-U-N-T

Now you can suggest programs to include in this list and I suggested a 75% cut in our military spending. What are the chances that ever finds its way onto the Republican agenda? 500 BILLION dollars a year of budget savings? That would sure go a long way to solving some of our fiscal problems.

A 75% military cut sounds about right.

Nobody is suggesting that US military pay should be reduced, but that some of the overkill capability and the 700-odd overseas bases might be scaled back. We are not "all Americans", nor are we all "liberals", nor do we all necessarily agree that the USA is the "best country in the world", so your sweeping generalisations merely serve to highlight your own sweeping prejudice.

Incidentally, calling people "idiots" is against forum rules.

Only if our allies want to beef up their military a bit, we are on the edge of a new war right now as it is.

We are? With whom? And the only ones starting large scale wars these days is us.

Iran or N.K. would be two good choices, add Israel into the mix and we'd have a real good time. Its obvious Iran doesn't respect us or care what we want out of them. I don't think we're ready to fight a real war again, the US can't stomach it.

Good choices? OMG- GOOD CHOICES? Seriously?

You don't remember the last "good choice" we made?

Good choices for a choice of what war could possibly break out, not that we should be over starting one.

How utterly ridiculous. There is no reason to go to war with either of them.

People just aren't informed enough on economics to really make good decisions. They're more likely to direct money based on their fears and prejudices. Say your papers come out with a lot of anti-Iran nuclear threat nonsense, people aren't going to cut money from the military, they'll vote to cut breaks to small businesses or what have you.

I just don't trust people enough to make impartial and informed decisions on spending.

Sometimes you don't make the choices.

You seriously just said that we should go to war with a country because they aren't doing what we want them to. How about they actually become a real threat before you go off on your killing sprees?

I think it was because they don't respect you. That's even more unforgivable.

Completely agree. If they don't fear us enough to do anything we ask, surely we should just invade.
