A friend of mine 9000 miles away is having serious problems with her computer. She can't reinstall anything because her CD drive is no longer functioning. I'm curious how much people think it might cost to have a new CD drive installed at an Apple shop (in Los Angeles) or if it's possible that she could do it herself (well, have another friend do it for her).
Or, maybe people might be able to recommend some good places in LA to have service repairs?
It's an old Powerbook running OS 9.2 - she probably got it about 4 years ago.
