DOCK to HDMI adapter

I really want a Dock to HDMI adapter to use with my iPad and iPhone so that I can easily hook it up to a Hi-def TV and watch my video content on-the-go, such as while on vacation. (What am I supposed to take an AppleTV with me?)

Have you seen the Dock to A/V cable? It's huge and bulky and analog.

Why is this SO difficult? HDMI is an industry standard now.
Seems like a logical request, right?

Other than the Apple TV, there are no other products that have HDMI, are there?

I'm pretty sure t his has been a repeated complaint by many people.
