Firewire soundcard in VMWare Fusion?

Are Firewire devices not supported by VMWare? Only USB?

How can I use a firewire soundcard?

Virtual Machines under Fusion cannot use Firewire devices. There is a workaround for Firewire hard drives and printers (sharing), but you won't be able to use other Firewire devices, including sound cards, scanners, Blu-ray disc and DVD recorders, cameras, etc.
