I just got a 12" Powerbook and like the power of the little computer and the size is great, but I have noticed a few things The screen is a little grainy and when the screen is closed one side sticks up a little. Any one else notice this?
 
the screen might be grainy due to the low resolution.. no idea why it would be so grainy you'd notice though.

as far as the screen sitting weird.. my 15" does the same thing.. one side doesn't go as far down when closed as the other.. kinda disappointing but what can ya do?
 
my 12" er is bent by the hinge, it doesnt bother me any more. i dont think there is anyting you an do about it as the case is alu so these things will happen. sorry i cant help you with the screen issue. mine is just fine!
 
My teacher has a PB and his does the same thing, and his daughter has an IB and it does the same thing too. I dunno whats wrong with them.
 
i think if apple did the typical 2 latch design (my dell had 2 latches, one in each corner) they could fix the lid height issue. relatively easily.. guess that kinda detracts from the simplistic design of the PB though... :-/ ah well.
 
I never even noticed the uneven latching, but as for the screen being grainy, I'm not sure what you're seeing. Is yours really noticeably grainy? Mine certainly is not - actually, it's one of the better laptop screens I've seen in comparison to some others.

Anyway, congratulations on the new machine. I'm sure you're going to love your new 12" PB. 🙂

The graininess is due to low res. Try bumping it up to 1024x768, I have mine set on that, actually on my PBG3 (I got it from here, thanks you guys) I changed the res to 800x600 and it looked horrible and it had the grainy look. Even here on this xp crap thing it looks bad at 800x600

Yeah, but then they'd have to worry about hinges popping off

My screen looks grainy when it gets a layer of dust on it. Give it a wipe (the screen that is) and bump the resolution and brightness settings to max.
 
ray: the brightness can cause it to look grainy too, cause the light it at a spectrum high enough to where colors blend together
 
Thought I'd put this in since nobody has mentioned it: Often, "graniness" is due to having the screen depth set to "Thousands" rather than "Millions". Something I had to change once.. hope this is helpful. 🙂
 
My res is set to 1024*768 and max color. It looks like it has a layer of dust on the screen and it is clean. I may take it to a Apple store and ask them if it is normal. Thanks for the response.
 
I have experienced no granieness in my 12".

As for closing, my laptop is square: there are no anomolies when it comes to closing, latching, resting. I dunno... every one that I have seen in person are like mine: perfect. Sorry man. :shrugs:
