How can I get my Express mail package back?

Sent a package yesterday and it got to the destination today, turns out to be fraud. It is not the Nigeria thing, just within the country. Is there any way I can get it back? What is the likelihood of getting it back if I fill out the form? And can the postman go back to the house to get it back?

Call the post office and beg. Your chances of getting it back are slim. Depending on what it is you're probably better off filing some sort of insurance claim or seller's protection. If it's already been delivered you might as well not bother, though.

Express mail, it was signed for by someone. Don't those packages receive special treatment? Yes, it's already been delivered.

If it's been delivered it's technically not "mail" anymore, which is why I don't think the Post Office can be of any help. All they can do at this point is confirm that it was delivered to whatever address and that someone signed for it.

I think you're screwed. If it's already been delivered the post office can't go and get it back.

Then go tell the police? I don't even think the Postal Service has jurisdiction over those kinds of things unless it's postal fraud.

edit: I'm also not really sure what you're getting out of posting here, either. If you really care, call the Postal Service and start asking what you can do. You're wasting your time here- nobody on these boards is going to be able to help you solve your problem unless you take some initiative as well.

How dow you know it's fraud?

If it's been delivered then, yes it's out of the PO's hands.

Because he was supposed to send something to me too (trade) via express mail and his tracking still hasn't updated. It's express so it should be updated and delivered to me!

So should I just take this as an experience to remember and just move on?

If it has been delivered you are screwed. If it is still in the mail it is possible to call the local post office at the destination city and see if you can put a stop on it.

Right now I would call the local police and file a claim and get that going.

Most people are too embarrassed to file a claim with the police and let it go.

Do not let this slide, people make mistakes its human. Bust this sob and shut it down before some one else gets screwed the same way you did.

Keep us updated.

Do you really think a big city would actually send a police officer to look for a piece of mail? I am going to file a claim with the police but what's the possibility of them actually looking for it or would they just put it in the record

Just because tracking info hasn't updated...doesn't mean he hasn't sent it. He may not be as quick about getting to the post office as you.

I have had things delivered to my home when all I got on the USPS website was "RECEIVED INFO FROM SHIPPER". lol

Have you contacted him and asked? Or are you just assuming the worst?

To avoid this in the future NEVER trade with someone you haven't met. Accept a payment of some kind that you can verify and then, once you get your money....send away!

1. USPS's tracking is absolute garbage. I receive packages before their tracking even says they shipper gave them the package. I wouldn't go by that
2. Did you actually try contacting the other guy first before assuming fraud?
3. If 1 and 2 fail, then yeah, it's an experience to remember and move on.

As I said, called his number, no-go. Email is returned, nothing

I second the USPS website track and confirm. I purchased something from Amazon and by its tracking, it was already being going through its way to me. However, when I entered the tracking number on the USPS website, it said nothing was found with that number. The delivery on Amazon's website said I would get it the 12th, and the USPS finally realized that it was going places yesterday. I received the package today by the way!

However, did you option for insurance on the package being sent to you. You may have something if you did.
