Has anyone successfully transfered their DVD cam video into iMovie, and what was the conversion process?? The Sony DVD cam records to dvd with mpeg2 format. Can anyone help with some ideas on how to do this? I plan on buying a Panasonic GS200 mini dv cam. Should I just re-record the dvd video to that? (I am not sure if the GS200 has audio input jacks to take the audio).

Thanks

Mini DV? Like a mini dvd? Doesn't work on a mac, have to use dv tapes. Sorry.

I use mini DV all the time.... not sure about the dvd cams, but mini dv cams will work great...

The Sony DVD cams only have USB2 digital outs so they aren't useful for iMovie. But you can use Toast Titanium, Media Cleaner Pro or some other shareware app, to convert MPEG2 files off the DVDs into Quicktime DV streams which can be imported into iMovie.

The GS200 does have full DV AV in/out.
