Why are videos blurry (esp YouTube) on an iPad and iPhone?

Is there a fix?

Why yes there is. Sober up. Don't drink and tap. Put down the crack pipe and the bottle of Wild Turkey. Just say no.

It appears that AT&T has throttled data streaming rates for YouTube on 3G. I have noticed this in four completely separate AT&T markets in the past 2 weeks (LA, MSP, SLC, NYC)

NO! NO! NO! It is not AT&T 3G that is lowering the bitrate on You Tube. It is the APP.

This has been discussed several times on several sites. If you use AT&T 3G through MiFi or another wifi hotspot you will get full bitrate videos on YouTube. The APP is fooled into thinking you are using a wifi connection to the net. The 3G bitrate is not lowered by the APP when it thinks you are on wifi. When you connect direct to 3G then the APP lowers the bitrate.

I use 3G Mifi when I want full rez/bitrate Youtube videos, not my 3G on the ipad.

Yes its the app.. But technically its still at&t who should blame. Its part of the deal.

Jailbreak your ipad and download the 3G unrestrictor

I have newest version of ipod. The youtube app has occasional blurriness. My friend has second newest iphone and it also has occasional blurriness. Also there is occasional black outs wheere you hear sound but the entire screen is black. I am possitive it is the app because on safari it is 100 okay (except buffering but that happens on everything)

Old thread. The blurriness is because the app gauges that your internet connection is not fast enough to support any higher resolution. My iPhone 5 on 5 bars of LTE will show blurriness for a brief moment before it ramps up the resolution.
