How to update to iOS4 with GM installed?

Sorry if this has been covered already, but I've had the GM for a few days and I'm wondering how to upgrade to the public release of iOS4... iTunes says there's no updates available. Can someone give me a quick step by step? I don't want to do anything unnecessary/anything to screw up my phone.

It is the same build and you cannot update, as you already have the latest one

The only thing that is different is Game Center is gone. But everything else is there.

Download the file from one of the links posted here http://gizmodo.com/5568558/download-iphone-ios4-now and then once you have it, go to iTunes and on the iPhone screen do Option+Click the Update button and you'll be able to select the downloaded file.
I updated from the GM to the general release today, just to make sure there were no bugs.

You should always backup just in case if the upgrade doesn't restore your stuff.

I forced mine to update using the way VSMacOne said above and I didn't have to restore. But when I updated to GM I lost everything and had to restore it.

So just to be safe... backup and restore if needed

It stands for "Gold Master" release. The GM seed is basically the beta of iOS4 that is closest to production quality. In the case of iOS4, the GM seed and the "Official" release has the exact same build number - essentially it is the same version give or take a few features.

The build number was the same they are however different files!

Easiest way to force it if clicking restore throws an error is to do a dfu restore.

No need to restore if all your stuff is there.

But if you are missing your things then you should restore.

Did you download the right version for your phone? For example if you got the 3GS one but yours is 3G it will NOT work.

Check the links here:

what had happened is I deleted the GM version and so now I'm downloading the final public version.
